NEBDN Information:

The regulating organisation that establishes the educational programme and grants the professional qualification that is recognised by the General Dental Council (GDC) is the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN). In order for students to complete their online Record of Experience (RoE) and take the exam, Lux Dent Institute as an accredited training Centre has the obligation to register them with the NEBDN.

Record of Experience (RoE) Step by Step the registration procedure for the NEBDN Exam:

  • Learners finish the NEBDN Initial Assessment Form.
  • NEBDN exam costs are covered by the student or employer.
  • The student is registered with the NEBDN by Lux Dent Institute
  • Through the NEBDN portal Pebblepad, the RoE is accessible online. Once enrolment for the NEBDN Exam is confirmed, the NEBDN will email you the login information.
  • Learners are expected to start working on RoE as soon as they get the login details.
  • The RoE shall take an average of 6 months to complete.
  • Learners must complete and submit the RoE on PebblePad, to qualify for NEBD exams.
  • The PERS records shall be signed by the supervising dentist for authentication before being sent to the NEBDN for exams applications.
  • Students must complete the Mock Exams that are located on Lux Dent Institute website, and get a pass mark of 60%.
  • The institution shall offer all the necessary theoretical and practical training to learners before entering them to the final exams.

NEBDN Registration Fee:

The NEBDN fee for year 2023/2024 is £510 which includes the registration and examinations, and are separate to the Lux Dent Institute course fees. NEBDN registration must be paid to the awarding body at the set time. The institution shall communicate all the cost implications on the induction lesson. If a learner does not meet either of these conditions 4 weeks before the exam date, his/her exam will be deferred to the next one (6months later) and the learner will have to cover the NEBDN deferral fees currently £35 and administration fee of £115.

The NEBDN Exam:

The NEBDN examination is in two parts and you will need to pass Part 1 before you can take Part 2.

  • Part 1 – An online written exam combining 60 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and 40 Extended
  • Matching Questions (EMQs)
  • Part 2 – Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
  • Examinations are typically held twice a year; April and November for the written, and January and June for the OSCEs.
  • Once you have passed Part 2 of the examination you will be awarded the NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing and you will be eligible to apply for registration with the General Dental Council as a qualified Dental Nurse. https://www.nebdn.org/qualifications
